Joy Electric is the project of songwriter and electronica whiz Ronnie Martin. While Joy Electric’s early albums displayed an increasingly ambitious sonic scope coupled with songs in which Martin explored his personal life and his commitment to Christianity, MY GRANDFATHER, THE CUBIST is quite different in both sound and theme. Radically pared back, MY GRANDFATHER, THE CUBIST features stark electronic minimalism and raw, vulnerable vocals. Lyrically, the songs deal with the history, process, and implications of visual art, yet still come across as achingly personal.
